This year’s main event was rivalry of Johnny Weir Vs Evan Lysacek same as last year.
Seems like this men’s event received high ratings. Media was selling those two rivalry and sounded like it went well. I was happy because they showed Johnny ’s fluff piece a lot. He is so hilarious, as usual.
My prediction was Johnny or Evan get gold and silver and bronze goes to Stephen Carriere.
It was usually decided from skater’s international ranking through past result of GPS and last worlds according to my analysis unless skaters totally meltdown in it.
And as a result, Evan and Johnny were tied up, and Stephen Carriere received bronze as I predicted.
Who was the best in this event in my eyes ?
Johnny !
No doubt !
Both SP and LP . He was amazing !
But I will always remember Johnny's performances were the most impressive all the way at Nationals 2008.
Especially, his emotional moment at the end is unforgettable scene.
Wonderful job, Johnny !!!!
For other skaters,
I thought Jeremy Abbot ’s programs ( especially his FP ) was more impressive than Stephan, but since Jeremy’s result was lower than Stephan during GPS, also his international ranking is lower than Stephan.
I didn’t think they will push Jeremy to be on the podium. Same for Ryan Bradley. I thought Jeremy’s movements improved a lot compared last season. .
I also found US junior Champion Adam Rappin this season. I’m guessing he will be one of the next main skater , who will be Johnny’s toughest competitor in close future.
He is like a little Johnny. His skating is russian style and very details beautiful movements , Not sure if he is creative or not and uniqueness.
His emotional level is still weak, but he is still young , so I believe he will improve a lot. I thought he has charisma.

Ha, when I saw this result, it reminds me of the movie “ blades of glory “. LOL,
How could it happen by accident ??
Tied up !
It’s so funny.
Technically, Johnny did 4T although two footed ( Lysacek also two footed) , and did only 2 combos 3A-3T, 3Lz + 2T , and made a mistake on 3F, the rest of the program was excellent.
Footwork , straight line step sequence, this was the best he did this season.
Whether level 3 or 2, ( he received level 3), this was very impressive.
Johnny skated last , besides right after Evan Lysacek who received high scores.
He looked very nervous before he started but he was amazingly strong and could well handle the pressure and the nerve. Very powerful from beginning to the end.
In last spin, he already started crying after finished all his jumps without big mistakes, and his emotional moment at the end was just wonderful, I had no doubt he was the best.
Evan Lysacek skated before Johnny , he looked very nervous, more than Johnny. ( especially his SP ).
His whole body looked stiff , maybe because of nerve ?
He made several mistakes on five jumps, 4T-3T, 3A, 3S, 3A+2T, 3F+3T, none of these jumps were clean, this performance of his Tosca looked just awful to me , and yet he received level 4 Straight line step sequence plus 2.71, 6 judges gave +3, and three judges gave +2 for this.
Since he received level 4 slst in GPF event, I thought they will give him level 4 for his slst, but it looked to me, it was not that good.
There was no art for his upper part movements , it was just wild, speed, his SP Zorro was better but slower than his GPF performance.
His final spin also looked slow and was unbalancing. I could see he looks so nervous during the performance.
His interpretation of the music of Tosca was a lot like his interpretation of the music of Carmen. And the score he received for this was over marked. IMO
Even though Johnny left one of his combo, Johnny’s scores should have higher than Lysacek’s TES because of his Lysacek mistakes.
The more I watch it the more I found Johnny is better than any one else.
Anyway, it's over. But I will always remember Johnny's performances were the most impressive all the way at Nationals 2008.
Especially, his emotional moment at the end is unforgettable scene.
