It’s really a shame to hear Lambiel's retirement…
I still can not get it in my mind, and it will surely hit me and will miss him when COP starts especially in Skate Canada.
Lambiel is always one of my second favorite skaters who gave me fun and excitement since 2006 Worlds.
My favorite is his Dralion he did in worlds 2006.
His unique creative artistic dance in it inspired me a lot , I call it the Lambiel dance.
Even though I was guessing he may not be in next Olympics seeing his health condition in past two years, when the time came, and have to face and accept the reality, it’s sad.
Hope he will have a great life and hopefully will have an opportunity to see his skating again.
There was also an article about
" Brian Joubert speaks about Stephane's retirement:
The french skater has an idea about the reasons that pushed Lambiel to stop. "Since his second world title, he was not well anymore mentaly" said Joubert, who also pointed out a physical problem.
"Unlike Stéphane Lambiel, I don't do a lot of galas. There were some seasons like 2005, where I did more galas, so earned more money, but in the end, I didn't get any title because I was drained both physically and mentaly"
As for Joubert comment,
Some people are criticizing his comment about Lambiel’s retirement but I see he is practical, well focused for his goal and I respect that part of him, because it’s really Joubert.
That’s why he has been successful in many events. He analysis well what was wrong when he made mistakes and could not be successful.
His opinion is very direct and out spoken. He is something hilarious to me.
But I think maybe too much competition and thinking about other contenders, and he is changing his program after seeing their result instead of going his way no matter what others get the result.
Also I think his outspokenness sometimes ruins his luck. Johnny used to have that part, but since last season, I think Johnny is doing well. Maybe Galina taught him something motivationally.
Keep secret always.
It’s clear why Plushenko was so successful , seeing his behavior during competitions.
I believe that was one of the reason why he could get Olympics Gold in high pressure situation.
I suppose Joubert is a big dreamer practically but his personality is very different from Lambiel.
He may not understand what Lambiel has been doing past 2 years, attending many ice shows.
I see Lambiel is an artist and impractical, but has big dream, imaginative and have strong fire to get to his goal. Lambiel already achieved his goals exception of Olympic gold ( and Euro gold ).
Two time worlds title is actually very successful, not many skaters can get it.
And my impression of him is strong at big events, he didn’t look nervous every competitions.
Still mysterious skater, maybe the most.
