My passion and interest went to pianists world now, especially Franz Liszt !
He is magic, the more I know about him the more I’m deep into him.
It’s never happened such a thing in my life almost like crush on someone who is not even a contemporary person and in fact, I'm losing all the other interests.
I’ve seen many legendary people's photos and have read about them but I was always seeing them as the historical people, never thought about it.
Besides his genius talent, a part of it may also be that no one looked like Liszt. .
Actually for music, Liszt, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Saint Seans are all tie breakers for me.
If we consider for the greatest pianists who were also great composers, Liszt and Chopin are tie breaker for me. and it seems so difficult to have both fantastic talent as a pianist and performer and also as a composer.
That's what makes Liszt and Chopin so special to me. However, Saint Saens and Tchaikovsky were both fantastic pianists as well. But they are more well known as composers.
Ray is also a huge fan of Liszt now.
Ray and I seem to always get same new passion at the same time, and this time is no different.
While we often love to listen to classical music, we also love a variety of kinds of music and that will not change, but now we're into Franz Liszt and his music and his life.
Next interest was finding the best present pianist who can play Liszt’s music, La Campanella and Hungarian Rhapsody #2 as close as Liszt did. ( who can guess ? )
Somehow, Ray heard about Russian pianist Arcadi Volodos and a Chinese pianist Yundi Li, but he never listened to their performances until recently.
Here is Yundi Li playing Liszt's La Campanella.
I was listening to several pianists and my favorite present pianist is “ Yundi Li “ after watching him playing Liszt’s La Campanella.
He is really incredible !!!
We are so so so excited and amazed by his piano performance !
I also like his facial expression while playing.
We can see that depending on the pianist, it’s really different, some pianists have no emotion, just care for technical part, whereas emotion is needed, and need to have a balance of dynamics and grace, expression, how pianists use their hands, fingers and arms .
Best of course would be to watch Liszt himself playing, but that's impossible, so I wanted to find the best pianist who can play Liszt’s La Campanella.
Yundi Lin is so far my favorite present pianist that I’ve ever seen.
( also I will check his Hungarian Rhapsody #2. ) Seems he won so many times in the piano contests, and is the youngest ever Chopin contest winner. La Campanella is so difficult, it’s funny, comments are saying that Piano is a sport. Especially when one challenges to play top level of piano music and Liszt’s La Campanella is one of the most difficult and hard to play, maybe it’s like a marathon (?). It’s still my new world, and I’m newbie to this world, very enjoying with it. For a while I will be deep into it in my free time.
