I love both, classical music and classical heavy metal music.
Classical music and heavy metal music have certain things in common such as requiring high technical musical instrument skills to be able to play.
I have posted about “ Musical taste shows personality “ in one of my past posts ( September, in 2008 ) at the link below,

Liszt’s “ Sonata in B minor “ initially took me a little while to warm up to it.
Then recently, I had a dream in which I was listening to Liszt’s “ Sonata B in Minor “ in it.
And while listening to it in my dream, I had some discovery, I really enjoyed listening to it, and so the more I listen to the music, the more I’m deep into it.
And I found that this music can be heavy metal music.
And really understand why Liszt has many fans who are heavy metal musicians. When the first time I listened to his “Sonata B in Minor“, I wasn’t so crazy for the music, and thought it’s more of technical music rather than imagination, the more of a math type of music.
But since reading about genius composers such as Camille Saint-Seans and Richard Wagner who both were really loving this music and hailed it as a masterpiece , very high level music, I was wondering what they were getting from this music which I haven’t yet.
Both Camille Saint Saens and Richard Wagner were definitely highly imaginative persons. Camille Saint Saens seems to have been one of those rare individuals whose right side and left sides of the brain were quite balanced, as he was also great at math and science.
He could get inspiration from his imagination or get more mathematical type of ideas.
And for Richard Wagner, from what I’ve read so far, the impression I get is that he was more of a right brain person, who made music mostly from his imagination, he also sounded like he was living in his fantasy world after reading about him.
And it seems that his fantasy world was so strong, that he eventually achieved a lot of his dreams.
I read that once while Richard Wagner was visiting at Liszt’s house, Wagner woke up from sleep and heard the piano playing, he heard Liszt playing his Sonata B in Minor in one of the other rooms.
He was curious where the music was coming from so he quietly went to the edge of the room where the music was emanating from, and without going into the room at first, he could hear Liszt was playing for a small group of visitors, and Wagner listened intently, peeking through the door, and he was really impressed with Liszt’s composition for the music.
After Liszt finished playing, Wagner rushed to him and hugged and praised Liszt, and thanked him for such a heavenly performance of this masterpiece.
But I’m glad I’m finally getting the music and understanding more and more why these two genius composers valued this music so much.
Liszt has many music like that, in the beginning, not so big impact like Tchaikovsky and Chopin’s music , but it’s strange, while listening to them, I became crazy for them, never bored.
Someone said, Liszt was actually the original source of heavy metal music, not Black Sabbath, Ozzy or Led Zeppelin. One of my long time favorite hard rock/ classic heavy metal music group The Alfee’s music was like that.
My top favorite music, Saint-Saens “ Danse Macabre” can be listened to like heavy classical metal music as well.
I found myself, I often love complicated elegant classic heavy metal music.
Many people imagine heavy metal is just one big noise, but classic heavy metal music is different.
And while I was checking classical music information, I also discovered that , somehow, some heavy metal fans are also fanatic Franz Liszt fans ( rather than only classical music fans ).
Some of them are interesting because when looking at profiles, for example,
“ your favorite music “ section , they listed many heavy metal music groups, or hard rock groups names,
but they were also including Franz Liszt’s name alone as the only classic music composer.
Sounded like originally they are not classical music fans except for Franz Liszt.
I wonder why only Liszt, and not Chopin or Rachmaninov who are also considered as legendary pianists in the world ?
Anyways, anyone who loves Liszt and his music sounds very cool to me.
All your favorites is who you are.
All my favorites are who I am. I’m always interested in people’s favorite things, because that’s how we can know the person.
