Figure skating competition 2012 - 2013 will be coming soon !

This season’s figure skating competition sounds interesting ! I haven’t been watching most of skating competitions since last Olympics ( Vancouver Olympics 2010 ), only US Nationals and a few skaters , but always checked the results for all the senior events for men and ladies. But it’s excited to know that some skaters who were taking breaks are returning to competitions this season such as Johnny Weir, Evan Lysacek ( both took breaks since last Olympics ) and also Evgeny Plushenko . For ladies, Miki Ando and Yu na Kim . Things are changing every season, I wonder how they will compete with present top skaters. I started watching men’s skating since 2006 Torino Olympics and I still love those days top skaters especially the ones who skated in the finale group in the free program. ( Evgeny Plushenko, Stephane Lambiel, Johnny Weir, Jeffrey Buttle, Brian Joubert, Daisuke Takahashi ) I was shocked to see these charismatic unique skaters in the men’s skating world, I didn

Who are genuine artistic skaters ?

People’s views are always different especially when it comes to artistry. I really think we all are biased for our favorites based on our taste, our views, our personalities, and it also might be coming from which side of the brain is more developed , right brain or left brain. And whatever art or other things that we learn, there are always levels, whether it’s judges scoring by whatever the rules happen to be, which BTW the rules were made by people who also have their own bias and favorite type of figure skating, or it comes from laws of nature.   We can feel which pianists are playing from the heart or not, besides being able to appreciate the technical ability.  In figure skating, Genuine artistic skaters to me are Johnny Weir Emanuel Sandhu Tatiana Navka Oksana Baiul These skaters come to my mind first. The following are also genuine artistic skaters,  Stephane Lambiel Daisuke Takahashi Staviski (of Denkova/Staviski) Shen( of Shen & Zhao )

NHK Trophy review

Ray and I were watching NHK Trophy on ESPN broadcast yesterday. Although we already knew the result. It was interesting that they showed Daisuke and Miki and also Shizuka Arakawa ’s small fluff pieces. Daisuke was saying something like that “ people says my footwork is cool. But I learned it by watching and moves. I think it’s cool .” Ha ha , yes, his footwork is cool, but all his movements are cool, too. Miki was saying something like that  “ I became world Champion last season, but I changed nothing but people changed. I can not even go out without sunglasses. I’m just Miki Ando. I love my life. “ It was cute. Miki and Mao sounds very popular like idol singers or actresses in Japan, so those two may need guards whenever they go out. And I can understand why they are so popular over there. I think both of them are attractive. I also think Yu na Kim has charisma. This season, ESPN was also showing some other foreign skaters such as Fumie Suguri, Brian Joubert, Stephane Lambiel and K
