Figure skating World Championships 2007 Review

Johnny Weir -

He is my all time favorite skater , far above all the others. I do believe if he shows his real talent in a competition, he can beat everyone.

Usually, I watch figure skating as an entertainment more than competition but for him, I also care about the competition.

I didn't expect his win in this competition because this season, I thought he was not in his best form because of his depression from many things.

Besides he created both new programs with new style with new choreographer in a short period of time and I thought he took a big risk.

It's good to challenge something new and he did really good job this season. But to change the style , it usually takes a lot of time to get it.

Johnny is a very talented person and an amazing quick learner, but even him, I think would need at least more than 1 year .

But he received 8th in the placement and I thought it's not bad in this situation.

Personally, I was not so crazy about his SP " King of Chess." because it was not magical and it was athletic style program .

I understand why he didn't receive high PCS this season. But his skating is still gorgeous and much more inspired than others for me.

But he received over 36 in this competition, so it was nice ! He made one mistake , one of his triple jump, but overall, I thought it was great. Especially I loved his ending expression. So Cute !!!

As for Free Skate,

I thought his FP music didn't bring any good vibe for him . It's a beautiful music and I liked many of the Choreography in it but this dead ending theme is absolutely sad and negative and I supposed it was bad luck music.

I believe music influences one's mind , especially Johnny is a true artist and he always feels with music while he is skating.

Something positive, exciting music usually brings good luck.

So I think King of Chess music was good choice even if I was not crazy for it. Actually, with the program, he skated perfectly most of the events this season.

He said about his FP,

"I tried and tried and tried with this number – the music is beautiful, my costume is beautiful, the actual program is beautiful – but there's something that's not clicking and I'm not feeling it in my heart, so when I go out there to perform, it's like 'Oh, this again."

and I really understand it.

It was really weird for me he couldn't jump well with this program all this season .
He is not only an incredibly artistic skater but he is also the highest quality jumper.

What I was glad the most was he finally did great 3A-3T in his first jump ! 3A-3T was
originally his best jumps since I saw him in Otonal. But he had been struggling with the jumps this season with this program. So it was nice ! I love his 3A-3T combination.

And his first 4 jumps looked perfect and I thought it was great .

If he skated perfectly, it was supposed to be scored over 80 in TES . But from the middle of the program, his two triple jumps became double and 3A became 1A. and there were not enough combination jumps.

For art part, I thought Nationals was more inspired and straight line foot work also Nationals was the best.

He looked tired from the middle of the program. I think one of the reason he struggled was lack of energy and stamina.

Honestly , I was not disappointed with the result because he sounded fine. He is a honest person who doesn't hide his emotion.

Also being positive and optimistic is very good to attract good luck .
Nothing will bring any good luck into our life if we are complaining and pay attention at negative things. Ha ha, It's difficult being positive all the time though.

I'm a huge Johnny fan and my point is always whether he is happy or not.
No matter what placement he received, if he is fine, I'm fine. Because it's Johnny's life, not mine.

I already knew he is the most impressive gorgeous skater, and I do not measure skaters with the score. And I don't think gold medalist is always the best skater. Especially with that scoring system, skaters have to skate based on it.

Of course If Johnny won at the competition, I will be really happy because he is happy.
My husband and I feel he is like our own son.

Daisuke Takahashi -

He was fabulous ! I liked both of his programs this season and his SP music is my favorite . For performance, I prefer his FP phantom of opera. His skating made me feel really good because he is very energetic, speedy , dynamic but also elegant and artistic. Also his expression is so natural.

I know how his pressure was so huge , competing in his home country. I think worlds is different from Grand Prix competitions.

I almost cried seeing him start to cry just after he finished the program. I've never seen him crying and showing his emotion so it was very exciting and wonderful !

He got big ovation after he finished it, like he was the winner !! Actually he got on the top place for the FS.

Stephane Lambiel -

I loved both of his programs. In SP, he was struggling with his first jump and fell. But I thought the choreography , his arm and body movements were excellent as usual.
Especially last part of his straight line footwork was wonderful !!!

For his FP flamenco, he made some mistakes with his jumps but it didn't bother me. I love the music ,choreography, and everything that he did in it . He is so creative and artistic and speedy !! His creative unique spin was excellent as usual. It was a lot of fun !

Brian Joubert -

I thought he skated very clean with both programs and did very good performance. I usually got bored with his skating but for his FP in this competition was great. His movement was simple, not creative and not complicated and not deep as usual but his expression was natural, he knows how to use basic arm and body movement .

Very good performance. He is not an artist but I think he is the best athletic skater right now. It's good for him he finally deserved the gold medal.

Emanuel Sandhu -

The broadcast didn't show his programs, but I watched his SP and I loved it.
He finally landed his 4T-3T perfectly in his first combination jump, it was great !!! But fell from his 3A and received low scores. But I thought his dancing, expression and movement were fabulous especially the way he uses his finger tips is like a magic ! I didn't agree with his PCS. It should be higher.

Nobunari Oda -

Broadcast didn't show his performance but I've heard that he did 3-3-3 combination jumps in his FP. I'm not a fan of his skating so I didn't see both of his programs but I've never seen someone did 3-3-3 , so that sounds very amazing. But he was deducted for one of his 3-2 combination jump again and received 74 TES.

Maybe he was nervous. But I think he improved a lot in his component since this season, and I feel sorry for him, he couldn't show his best performance in it. But I like his cheerful friendly personality . I hope he will skate well next season.

Overall , I really enjoyed with this competition. Daisuke and Stephane's performances were the most impressive in this competition. And of course Johnny.

I love artistic style skating and not interested in athletic style skaters. so that's all my impression.
Johnny is special for me so I always enjoy with his skating whether he was in top form or not and Johnny, Daisuke, Stephane, I watched them over and over and again.

For Ladies,

I loved Miki's SP and Mao's both programs and Yu na's SP. Those three girls are really great, especially TE parts are very high level.

I'm very happy Miki won this competition. Her shoulder injury was not recovered and after hearing Miki's practice was not going well, and Mao sounded very strong and super confidence and ready to get gold in the Japanese sport news, I thought it will be Mao's victory . So I didn't expect Miki's win.

Miki Ando -

I thought Miki's SP was really powerful and elegant. I really loved her expression and the way how she used her arm and finger tips are so artistic. The straight line foot work looked very complicated and difficult but she did really good job.

I think no other ladies did such a difficult foot work. It looked like men's food work. In her LP, she looked very nervous, and looked she was not feeling with music but landed all the jumps and did clean program. It's was also really wonderful to watch her showing her emotional feeling and excitement at Kiss & Cry.

Mao Asada -

Last season, I was not crazy about her skating but since this season, I thought she improved a lot especially her art part. I especially loved her ballet style SP. I love the music ! Her skating is so smooth and something interesting.

She made a mistake at one of her jump and received 5 placement in SP, but she was really amazingly strong , she came back in LP and beat Yu Na and received 2nd placement at the end. I think if she did clean program for both programs, she would win unless Miki did clean quad.

Yu na Kim -

I know she is a elegant ballet style skater , however I've never impressed with her skating . I don't know why ? Maybe I can't see her own style of skating. But in this competition, I thought her SP was wonderful !

Great music choice and her first combination jumps was very powerful and excellent landing. and her arm movement had impact in it.

Who was The Mysterious Masked Messenger who visited Mozart ?

Perhaps the most mysterious legend about Mozart is that of the " Masked Messenger ". These mysteries have tantalized musicians for over two centuries. Fuji via photopin (license)    Today,  I would like to write about health tips from an extra-terrestrial being named Bashar who is from the Essassani Planet .     He is channeled by Darryl Anka. Planet earth used to have beautiful clear air, but since a long time ago the air has been polluted everywhere.    and the cause of most illnesses comes from the poison in the environment we are in, with the polluted air. Nowadays, it's hard to find places where there is beautiful clean air. and in this unfavorable environment, he is suggesting how to live healthy.   Health tips 1.  Clear Oxygen  According to Bashar,  the air after storms and typhoons have gone away, is the most clean ( purified ) and is good for our bodies. However when there is an overdose of artificial oxygen by using tools such as oxygen tanks , this can cause a lack of water, and will weaken cells.   So clean natural water needs to be used in a balanced amo

Sweet Food which does not get fat - Warabi mochi

I recently love eating this sweet food that Japanese call " Warabi mochi " which is made of 0 calories food psyllium in my coffee break time.   It's sweet food but I use Lakanto Monk Fruit Sweetener instead of sugar when I make it. Lakanto Monk Fruit sweetener is 0 calorie s and 0 glycemic and very similar taste as normal sugar. It is said it's derived from monk fruit, which looks like a small green gourd native to regions of China and Thailand.  It's not artificial so it is not bad for health so I feel comfortable eating it. Warabi mochi is a food which is normally made of Kinako ( soybean flour) & sugar & warabi powder and it's one of my favorite foods. However it's high calorie foods so if I eat a lot, it's easy to gain weight.   Because Warabi mochi flour is Starch and has sugar in it and is high calorie.  So I was not eating it. and then recently I found the recipe of diet Warabi Mochi which is made of Psyllium

Beauty skin care, Ninon de L'Enclos ‘s Secret of her young skin

Besides extra virgin olive oil, I’ve been doing a mixture of another great natural formula since two weeks ago. This information came from Ray who happened to find about Ninon de L’Enclos ’s amazing story concerning her youthful skin. According to the article, Ninon de L’ Enclos is known as a famous French beauty from the late 1600s. She kept her youthful skin until 85 years old when she passed away. Even in to her 80’s she was attracting many young men who fell hopelessly in love with her. She never published her secret of her youthful skin until the end , only telling her special friends about her secret formula. There is no photo of her, but seeing her painting in other websites, she looks in her 30’s when she was 85. According to the article, her face was as smooth and free of winkles in her 80’S as it had been at 20. She hated wrinkles and successfully kept her skin youthful , using her special secret formula. This information blew me away, and immediately

Franz Liszt and Frederic Chopin’s friendship Part 1

Frederyk Chopin   I’m a long time fan of Chopin’s music since when I was a teenager. Started loving his music from hearing his Polonaise , then Noctunes , Etudes … Frederyk Chopin I was using one of Chopin’s Nocturnes as my background music for my answering machine when I was in my 20s. In Japan, many of his music is famous and used in many TV dramas, commercials, movies, and mostly wealthy bourgeois family scenes. My image of many of Chopin ’s music that I’ve listened to is of a cozy, bourgeois world. From almost all his music I’ve ever heard, I often pictured an elegant, wealthy family’s world or a story about a family who are living in a luxury antique style house. Many of Mozart ’s music reminds me of a social life in an older generation, a story about bourgeois world in a gorgeous luxury palace. For Liszt ’s music, his music is very variety, ranging from an image of a sweet passionate love story for couples, all the way to nightmare horror story type of mu

Franz Liszt’s dangerous love

Franz Liszt was quite tall in his generation, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall , long blonde hair , piercing sharp eyes, pianist' long narrow and delicate hands and fingers. His body build was very slender. People who knew him described his personality as full of charm, charisma, and very knowledgeable.  And he loved brainy women. He was the consummate artist. It seems that Liszt loved dangerous love , which thrilled him and gave him excitement rather than a stable, peaceful , safe love. Franz Liszt While reading about his biography, I was wondering why he fell in love with two princesses who were already married. Marie D’Agoult He seems to have had a lot of love affairs in his life, someone found out that he had at least 26 serious relationships in his life ( besides countless other affairs ) but the only ladies he thought about marriage was with these two princesses , Marie D’Agoult and Carolyne Sayn Wittgenstein ? My favorite ways of Law of Attraction Part 3 - Successful Wishing - Pierre Franckh

Pierre Franckh’s books “ Successful Wishing “ are another of my favorite books.     There are series, 1 to 6 , and are not published in English , but I did find them in a Japanese book store,  translated by a Japanese translator.   Pierre Franckh is a German actor ( Movies & TV) from 1959 – 2003, and is also a movie director and a writer.  Since 1996, he published many books and became a best selling author.  Franckh wrote based on his personal experiences from when he was a child . I love the way how he writes , it’s very easy to read and direct to the point, very clear how to do it with step by step instruction. Also importance of finding what you truly want.    Many people are actually not realizing what they really want and then when they get what they wanted,  still not feeling satisfied. Pierre said that before making your wishes and order to universe, it’s important to clear up what you really want and ask to yourself, why you w

Organic foods and healthy living “ You are what you eat ? “

We‘ve been enjoying organic foods since a month ago.   Because we care for our health and also organic foods taste more delicious than normal vegetables.   Recently, I really feel the famous quote  “ You are what you eat . “   is true.   Although healthy life comes from balance between mind, body, skin care, good night sleep and activities besides food life .   Health is a treasure.   Also I realized that “ good blood circulation ” is one of the most important key to keep healthy and look young skin.   After being amazed to see Styx’s ageless Tommy Shaw on TV, I started searching about “ secret of youth “.  He looks so much younger than his age.  Also, there was an interview with Styx on CNN in the morning about a week ago and they talked about what they think are the keys to longevity and a healthy life. http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/bestoftv/2012/04/23/exp-kyra-phillips-age-against-the-machine.cnn

”The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.” - Albert Einstein

Originally we were all creative because all children are creative. While growing up, many children lose their creativity by seeing, reading, hearing what many grown ups do and teach. According to a book called " Goal " by Brian Tracy, "Fully 95% of children tested between the ages of three and five are rated as highly creative. Of the same children tested again as teenagers, only about 5% rated  as highly creative. What happened to them in the interim ?   As they went through school, they were taught that if you want to get along, you follow the crowd. They learned not to question or challenge the teacher or to suggest unusual ideas. In their attempts to be liked and accepted by their peers, they allowed their creativity to die down, like a fire without fuel.  " "All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once they grows up." - Pablo Picasso But if we don't use creativity, we lose it. It means that the more we use cre

Charm of Kenichi Hagiwara - Shoken

From Japanese Movie " Ame no Amsterdam (Rain in Amsterdam)" I've been into the late 1960s to 1970s generation since several years ago. I don't know why but I'm very interested in older generation's people, trends, lifestyle, scenery, habit, TV drama, music, films, etc..   and not so interested in new things much.  There are many new discoveries through checking out old stuff while reading and watching it, which I didn't know before. and about several months ago, I happened to find a youtube video of  a famous Japanese actor called Kenichi Hagiwara who was my favorite actor in 1970s when I was a kid. His nickname is Shoken and he is also a singer of Rock/blues music.                      Shoken( 18 years old) singing ”Legend of Emerald” Shoken was one of the super stars in Japan mainly from the late 60s generation to early 80s. When he was 15 years old,   he joined an amateur music group band called The Tempters as a vocalist.   A
