During Olympics and figure skating season, it’s hard to focus only one thing since I found my favorite athletes , and can not stop watching all the competitions for my favorite subjects.
Last night was for women’s gymnastics balance beam competition, and men’s gymnastics horizontal bar, also warming -up of track & field 400m.
Women’s gymnastics balance beam
1. Shawn Johnson (USA)
2. Nastia Liukin (USA)
3. Cheng Fei ( CHN )
4. Anna Pavlova (RUS)
5. Gabriela Dragoi (ROU)
6. Li Shanshan (CHN)
7. Ksenia Afanasyeva (RUS)
8. Koko Tsurumi (JPN)
Yay, Shawn and Nastia rock ! I was rooting for Nastia but both of them were amazing !
I really like Shawn Johnson’s pure mind cheerful smile and friendly personality.
Very adorable.
Shawn was very steady, was doing many difficult movements and received 7.0 for A-score. Just only one part slightly lost balance and at landing, she stepped out but it was not so big deal.
Even though I prefer Nastia’s artistic style, it was very nice to see her performance and received her first Olympics gold medal.
Nastia was excellent !
She received the highest B-score, just only her difficulty level was not high enough as Shawn. Very beautiful to watch.
Both of them did great job in this Olympics without any big mistakes.
It seems that they were room mates there and are close friends.
I have very good impression with Shawn Johnson’s attitude to Nastia and also other competitors.
She looks more easy to talk than Nastia.
Nastia is beautiful, so she looks may have more of a wall around her.
Chinese girl Cheng Fei’s attitude to Shawn Johnson was nice, too.
Right after Shawn finished , she started greeting to other competitors, and Cheng Fei came to Shawn and they were hugging and kissing each other. So did other Chinese girls, too.
I have good impression for many athletes ’s attitude in this Olympics.
I watch only gymnastics, track & field , and swimming. ( and sometimes women’s diving ). So I don’t know for other subjects ,but they all were doing good sportsmanship each other.
No one looks arrogant and boasting their win or sour grapes to other competitors and countries.
Audience may be the ones who are bashing and have bias against Chinese athletes for getting many gold medals.
Every time I read those bias, that makes me feel bad.
For Men’s gymnastics horizontal bar ,
1. Zou Tai (CHN)
2. Jonathan Horton (USA)
3. Fabian Hambuchen (GER)
4. Igor Cassina (ITA)
5. Takuya Nakase ( JPN )
6. Hiroyuki Tomita (JPN)
7. Epke Zonderland (NED)
8. Yann Cucherat ( FRA)
I’m not so crazy for men’s gymnastics and not usually watch so seriously like women’s but we enjoyed with this horizontal bar because it looked to me the technical level are getting higher and higher and were very exciting to watch many complicated skills in it but also it was shocking to see some falls on them.
In this competition, I was wondering why Zou Tai received the highest A-score 7.2 ? But seems like even though he didn’t do exciting difficulty, he was doing something very difficult skill in it.
I’m not understanding the new judging system, so he must be doing something difficulty based on the system that can get high score. His performance was beautiful to watch.
For excitement, I enjoyed Jonathan Horton (USA) and Igor Cassina (ITA) a lot. Johathan looked very satisfied with his performance and looked very happy to receive silver medal.
He was really amazing ! I’ve heard that Igor was the one who created one of the skills which Jonathan tried it and did it perfectly while the original creator made some mistakes. But Igor was doing many difficult movements. It’s a shame he could not get medal.
Horizontal bar may my favorite subject in men’s gymnastics.
Also it was shocking to see Epke Zonderland (NED) and Yann Cucherat ( FRA) ‘s fell. Especially Epke Zonderland ‘s fall was dynamic. But after the fall , he did excellent. I liked Epke's performance in it and was very exciting to watch.
