Jeremy Wariner vs. LaShawn Merritt
They also showed qualified for men’s 400m track & field on August 19.
Oh… I really wanted Jeremy to win.
But just after I woke up this morning, I saw some articles that says Lashawn won gold and Jeremy placed 2nd …
Now I feel very disappointed ..
Since this year, his rival Lashawn appeared and Jeremy was beaten by him twice this year, so many people are not expecting to Jeremy to win.
But Jeremy beat him in Paris race a month ago.
Jeremy was unbeatable until this year 2008, but seems like he had a muscle problem and his time was getting slower than before.
Jeremy’s personal best time record is 43.45 and still holds the World Record as third best in the world.
Top is still Michael Johnson’s 43.18 ( 1999 ), second is Harry Butch 43.29 (1988).
LaShawn got 43.75 in this Beijing Olympics, sadly Jeremy’s time was 44.74.
I’m wondering what happened to Jeremy ?
And when I checked the lane for both of them, Lashawn was in 4 lane and Jeremy was in 7 lane.
I’ve heard that inside lane has advantage for the race and outside lane such as 7 or 8 lane has disadvantage because inside lane can see where the other runners are , but outside lane has no idea where the others are until the final stretch.
So for psychologically, inside lane seems to have advantage.
I’ve also noticed that Lashawn is strong at last stretch even though he looks slow in the beginning.
It’s really a shame...
It’s Olympics, the biggest competition , so I’m upset about it.
This situation may be similar to Johnny Weir VS Evan Lysacek to me.
I hope Jeremy will beat Lashawn again in the future and will break the Michael Johnson’s world record.
I was also shocked to see Jamaican runner Usain Bolt broke the world record in 200m !
Michale Johnson kept the top record ( 19.32 ) 12 years since 1996, and Usain Bolt got 19.30 in this Olympics.
They showed Michael Johnson when the record was beaten and he was laughing.
I like Michael Johnson’s running and also his personality is very humble.
Usain Bolt looks young, he looked very exciting when he knew he broke the world record and was saying to the camera,
“ I’m the number one ! I’m the number one !
Hmm…. He is amazing, but doesn’t look so humble and mature enough...
Rhythmic gymnastics will be coming soon today.
