Recently, we had an opportunity to watch the famous timeless classic movie “ The Sound of Music “ which I had been wishing to watch.
I had watched the movie when I was around 14 to 15 years old, from my step father’s recommendation ( the sound of music was his top favorite movie ).
I remember I was very impressed with the amazing beautiful scenery in Salzsburg in Austria which I’d never seen at that time.
It was like a beautiful scenery painting.
Also the music,
I love almost all the music in this movie.
Until now I didn’t know the famous music “ Edelweiss “ was made for this movie.
Because the music was in our school ( elementary school or junior high school) in the music text book.
Also the story, an innocent type of story, was based on a true story.
This movie makes our mind clear up.
I think it’s an uplifting movie ! I guess I’m a very dreamer and I’m always attracted by beautiful nature scenery and historical buildings.
Because maybe I grew up in a place which was surrounded by modern buildings in a big city, Tokyo, Japan.
So I was always curious and interested in completely different world from Tokyo.
So I really love the movie “ The Sound of Music “ , and also many other movies which have gorgeous natural scenery with delicious foods.
When I became 20s, it became my goal to travel by myself to see these places which I was impressed by movies or books or magazines which are Salzsburg in Austria , Versailles palace in France, Schlob Neuschwanstein ( castle ), Rotenberg, Hameln in Germany, Prince Edward Island , Rocky mountain in Canada, Cotswold in England.
And for one of my European trips which I took Euro train for the traveling places I wanted to go instead of airplane, was started from Berlin - Hameln - Frankfurt - Rothenberg - Hussen - Munchen ( Germany ) - Wien - Saltsburg ( Austria ) - Stuttgart (Germany ) - Paris ( France ).
My travels were like a back packer , even though I wasn’t carrying back pack.
I went to the Mozart concert in Wien, Austria, and also Mozart museum, souvenir chocolate for tourists has Mozart image in each chocolate.
Also have been to the places which were used by the movie “ The Sound of Music “
Something very romantic, beautiful place, in a different way from Paris in France, or Venice in Italy, or even Rocky mountains in Canada.
My favorite place in Austria was the street called “ Getreidegasse “ in Saltsburg.
My husband Ray grew up in Europe ( Belgium ) so he’s been to many places in Europe including Saltzburg, Austria and he also watched the movie when he was a child.
Common things we remember for that movie was, beside its beautiful scenery, and music, the actress who played the oldest daughter in it was very pretty and attractive. Lol
And the scene which was in the ornate pavilion in their backyard where there was a lake, tree, and bench nearby, was soooo beautiful and romantic !
That scenery reminds me of “King Arthur”.
The total balance of the scenery they took was amazing like a painting !
Ray said the father’s character was in some ways like his real father, who was like Army captain, and all his kids had to follow.
The father’s looks ( the actor ) also quite similar, especially his serious, stern facial expression.
For other part,
I love the scene which Maria and the father do folk dance with Austrian folk music in the party.
The music and the dance are always nice to see.
And since we had an opportunity to watch the movie again for free, we ended up deciding to purchase the dvd of the movie because it was soooo good, and such a timeless movie.
And when I checked the movie “ The Sound of Music “ in keyword checker which we can see the global monthly searches from English sites, I found that the keyword “ The sound of music “ has 5,000,000 searches every month !!
It shocked me, Over 5,000,000 !!!!!!
How popular this movie is ?
Here are some Timeless classic movies ( and TV show ) from before 1970 ( the global monthly searches from English sites ),
The Sound of music- 5,000,000
The God father - 1,830,000
Mary Poppins - 823,000
Twilight zone - 450,000 Gone with the wind - 368,000
Breakfast in Tiffany - 301,000
The sound of music is unbeatable number of the searches.
There are much more, but I couldn't find the other classic movies which are higher monthly search than The sound of music.
It's amazing, it's more than “the god father “!
The movie is good for kids as well.
My favorite classic movie so far is besides “ The Sound of Music “ , “ Gone with the wind “.
I also read the book " Gone With The Wind " which has series 1 to #5. Loong story but I was really crazy about the story and the movie when I watched the movie.
We also watched another classic Rodgers and Hammerstein “ South Pacific “
But soon we got bored, only good part in that movie was beautiful scenery of which have south island ocean, trees and sky, cloud, and actress France Nyuen.
In general, I think actors and actresses need charisma and humor, beside the story and music, and scenery.
What’s your favorite classic timeless movie ?
