It’s been ages since my last post and already August has come !
During the time, for about 5 weeks, my husband’s work
schedule had changed and we had to change our life cycle as well.
And it took about 1 month to get use to
getting up real early in the morning and going to bed earlier as well.
I realized that I’m really a night person, and I thought
it will change when I get older from night person to morning person, but I’m
still struggling getting up such an early in the morning.
And I felt like time flies faster with this life cycle
because soon it’s the time to go to bed.
I usually get some idea for writing during the night time,
so during the time I often changed my mind and my ideas were not stable to
write.
In July, it’s my birthday month and I finally became 50 last
month!
I still can’t believe that!
I was born when my grandmother was 45 years old and my
mother was 26.
So my image of the age 50 when I was a child was often grandmother’s age and ancient.
Image of our ages are mystery and it often changes depending on where we are
located in present.
I still remember that when I was a first grade of the junior high school ( about 12 to 13 years
old ), I felt students who are in the third grade ( they were 14 to 15 years old ) looked adult
with tall height.
When I was 16, people who are 20 years old looked very
adult and people who are 25 years old looked
already old. 30 looked ancient.
But while growing up, and when I became 30 years old,
people who are 40 looked old, but teenager looked like children.
It always continued, but the more I get older, the more I
don’t talk about the age or became careless for the age.
My husband, who will soon be same age as me has often
shocked many people when they know his
age.
Ray walking to our car
In the beginning, I thought everyone was being nice complement
for his age, like many Japanese people do.
I’m seeing him everyday, so I can’t know about it.
But when I saw so many people surprised at his age, I
started to feel they must really feel he
looks younger than his age.
Plus the most recently was at a lottery ticket counter,
the sales clerk asked his ID to sell the lottery ticket, and when seeing his
age in his ID,
she was like
“ OMG !!! I
thought you are a college student !
yeah, I really do, I really do ! “
Her face looked really shocked.
In another situation, when we were shopping in a shopping
mall, my husband was trying some new clothes in the dressing room.
And while I was looking for him, on the way to the dressing room , and there was almost no one in the
store, one lady sales person in the store asked
me,
“ Are you looking for a young man ?
“
I lost words for a second.. because “ Young man ?? !! I’m not looking for a young man .”
but I was sure she was asking about my
husband since we were the only people in the area at that time.
So I answered
“
yes. But…. “
Then when my
husband finished putting on the new clothes and got out of the dressing room
to show me,
the lady said
“ Here he is . “
and
“ ……” ( I lost words. )
The lady looked like around 35 to 40.
I guess each person has their own image of each age.
Nowadays, there are many people who look younger than
their actual ages unlike my parent’s
generation (around 1930 – 1980).

Age is whatever age you feel you are. “ ~
I love this photo above. Ray is in the left side with his friend
and his cousin , when they were around 21 years old. They took it at an entertainment fair for fun.
Thank you so much to my greatest husband. I love these flowers and the heartfelt
birthday card !
