Sacha Baron Cohen has been chosen to play Freddie Mercury in Queen Film

Actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has been chosen to play Freddie Mercury in a new movie, which will be in theatres in 2011. There was news about a Freddie Mercury movie in the works a few years ago and at that time, it was Johnny Depp who was the main actor being rumored for the part. Sacha Baron Cohen’s name had also come up at the time, but no actor had been firmly decided for the part at that time. Robert De Niro ’s Tribeca productions will be a co-producer for the film. Freddie Mercury was one of rock’s greatest icons of all time.  He was the lead singer, a song writer, and pianist for the English rock group, Queen. Freddie Mercury was known for his soaring, powerful vocals with over a four-octave range and his flamboyant and dynamic stage presence. As a songwriter, Mercury composed many hits for Queen, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and We are the Champions. Freddie was also a great dancer. Th

Superficial friendship

Today, I’m thinking about friendship. Looks like superficial friendship is common everywhere especially the more we get older and older.   I also have some superficial friends, but main point is always whether I enjoy with them or not. If I found no fun to talk or read their messages anymore, I don’t continue the friendship. My closest real friends may be only two. One of them is from when I was 12 years old, since my first grade in junior high school. We know each other a lot and have strong connection, even though we have different view of life, have different hobbies, and have different taste. Mainly we talk about each other’s life asking questions, not only talk about ourselves because I think both of us are interested what we are doing, whether okay or not. Plus honest. I don’t push my interests to my friends, because I know they won’t like being pushed and they won’t be interested. Ray is asking if the interests are different, what can you talk about with frien

What is the meaning of the date December 21, 2012 in the Mayan Calendar ?

Recently I’ve heard about the Mayan Calendar , which is known as one of the most accurate calendars ever made, and which has been used for many forecasts and predictions. The Mayan calendar accurately lays out solar and lunar positions and events starting from thousands of years in the past, and then the calendar abruptly ends on December 21, 2012 . Many have speculated that this means it may be the end of the world. And when I heard about it, first thing came to my mind was “ Is it like Nostradamus prediction which was interpreted as 1999 being the end of the world ? And it didn’t happen ? “ Ray says no one knows for sure what it means, why the Mayan Calendar ends in 2012. Why did the calendar end on that date ? My first thought about it is this, Maybe the Mayan person/persons who created the calendar passed away after he/she/they finished the calendar up to the date December 21, 2012. Or there might be some other reason why he/she/they could not continue. And m

Balance between art for art's sake and art for an audience

English Rock Group member Queen ’s guitarist & sometimes vocalist Brian May made an interesting quote and observation in his website a few days ago. My husband is a long time fan of Queen and their music and he has been reading Brian May’s blog in his website and told me about it. Here's Brian May's quote . " One needs to find a balance between art for art's sake and art for an audience. That's where the magic happens. Because if you stray too far from that line on either side, the result is not very useful. If you're doing things purely to get famous or to make money, they tend to be very empty. But on the other side of the line is, if you do things purely for art's sake and nobody ever gets to see them or appreciate them, then you're not using your art as communication — which I believe it should be. " This is an interesting point of view about success and Brian May is a member of one of the top legendary rock groups,

Lady Gaga’s Attraction Power

Recently, I’m into Lady Gaga and her music in my free time . I knew about her through Johnny’s popular skating number “ Poker face “, and until then I didn’t know about her. If Johnny didn’t perform Poker face, I would not pay attention for her much. Even though I loved her Poker face and Bad Romance which Johnny performed, I didn’t think to buy her CD until last week, I just enjoyed her music video when it was on. I happened to see her interviews twice on TV lately, and one of them was with Larry King. She looks so unique and interesting. We were laughing their communication between her and Larry King. Her interview made me and my husband getting into her as a person. So we decided to buy her CD last week. Ray is usually very strict and picky for music because he plays musical instrument and love to write a song and create music for fun. And he is more respecting singer song writer than just a singer. And Lady gaga is a singer song writer , so he was interested in listening to he

New vacuum cleaner

I purchased a new vacuum cleaner last week. Because our old one was finally broken. The new one is similar to Japanese style which is small and light. It was limited quantities for this special design as called Pink Bouquet and we thought it beautiful. The photo can not show clearly but it’s actually more shining and the color is more beautiful wine red. The power is 10 AMPS. Our old vacuum cleaner was heavy and it was difficult to clean in small narrow spaces, so now I love to vacuum our place with the new one.

I’m a little late, but am SO Happy to hear this news ! US Figure skating site has announced Johnny Weir as the winner of 2010 skating magazine Readers choice skater of the year on July 21,2010 . Each spring, SKATING magazine readers are asked to vote for the eligible skater in any discipline whom they believe is most deserving of the award, based on the accomplishments of the past season. This vote’s deadline was around June 5 at first ( if my memory is correct ) but somehow it was postponed to July 15. This Award is given annually by SKATING magazine, the official publication of U.S. Figure Skating. Johnny Weir also won this award in 2008, ( by winning world bronze medal ( he was the only US skater to win medal in that world championship ), two gold medal s at Grand prix competitions, and also tie breaker at Nationals competition. ) This year, I believe Johnny won by people’s heart. By giving the most memorable performance at Olympics. Because so many people were inspi
