Recently we've been into oldies music, especially from 1940s to 1980s music!
Around midnight here, there is an oldies music station on TV and Ray has been enjoying watching it almost every night.
And since a few days ago, some of the music I heard from it has been spinning in my head,
and one of them is Saturday night by Bay City Rollers which was a huge hit in 1976 !
It's so great to easily be able to watch an old generation's music and the musicians singing live !
And I appreciate modern high technology which allows this.
The Bay City Rollers were a Scottish pop music band who were often wearing checkered design with 1/8 length wide pants on the stage.
They all looked cool and adult at that time but when I watched it now, I felt they all look so cute and young with young voices.
I only knew 1976 to 1978's members.
Ray ( my husband ) had heard this music on the radio a few times. Apparently, it was a world wide hit, although neither one of us were really ever into them.
But it's still fun to hear and see it after all these years.
They were so popular at that time that some in the media were saying they will be the next Beatles.
But I felt mostly they were popular with girls and women.
Boys and men were more into the Beatles and then a few years later into Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin.
The Bay City Rollers music was catchy and uplifting and had big impact since 1976, but somehow most of their music sounded something light.
Maybe not so touching or emotional, so perhaps easier to forget.
But just for having fun, I like this kind of music.
I think they were more like idol stars type of musicians.
I didn't know they started from 1966, and the members changed many times.
The members at that time were Leslie McKeown, Alan Longmuir, Derek Longmuir , Stuart Wood and Eric Faulkner.
The members were often changing for many reasons.
Alan Longmuir was replaced by Ian Mitchell and then Ian was then replaced by Pat McGlynn.
I remember Pat, because my brother's girlfriend at that time was a huge fan of him, but he was in the band only several months.
Then Pat left, and Alan Longmuir came back to the lineup.
and then Leslie left and he was replaced by Duncan Faure.
I wasn't a big fan of them but I thought Leslie and Pat and Stuart were attractive and really enjoyed with their music at that time.
In 1976, I was 13 years old.
Me in the left side with dark blue Mu Mu dress,
with Keiko-chan ( in the right side ).
My mother took me to her old friend who was living in Osaka, Japan.
Keiko-chan is her old friend's daughter who was 2 years older than me.
I'm going to post more about oldies music for a while.
It's fun and many kinds of emotions are coming up while listening to oldies music.
