US Nationals 2009 Men’s event

The Men’s competition was shown live in NBC broadcast on Sunday evening. ….. And it started from Johnny’s Free skate , and seeing his face right before he skated , I immediately felt , oh, no ! he is not on, no fire that was usually there before he skate in the past, and it’s not coming from only the nerve, but physically , something wrong with him. He looked so thin and not healthy. I often saw his tiger fire eyes in the past, and I was hoping he gets those eyes again. Looked like he was putting on fake tan to cover his face color, but even with it, it was clear to see he was not healthy enough. I also felt that when I saw the photo of his Short Program in his fan’s message board. But I tried to think he was just disappointed for his mistakes, and wanted to think he is okay. When the Free skate started, Ray immediately went to the kitchen from the TV after set up to record it, and I went away to my office, but we could hear what commentators were saying for his performance...

Right Brain ? or Left Brain ?

I found a very interesting info about our brains , and how it influences our taste and our view points when we see things. People’s taste and view points are usually different, so I’m not surprised that people see things totally different from me. Actually, it’s so unbelievable Ray and I have similar taste for so many things. Maybe that’s one of the reasons, it’s so comfortable to be with him. Recently, I happened to find a comment which bugged me a little because it was about Johnny’s “ The Swan “ program in Nationals 2006, and comparing with Patrick Chan’s SP for this season in Canadian Nationals. The comment was this “ I found the swan is too old for Johnny. He has no creativity, no genius to skate such music. I don't know why he continues, every year, to skate to classical music that he interprets with such an old style (and not old in a good way, for me). Patrick‘s term of creative is brilliant. ” When I read this comment, honestly, I thought “ Huh ???” I...

Johnny’s teleconference - US Nationals

I’ve just listened to Johnny’s teleconference on icenetwork.com. He was asked several questions which were about judging system, US economy etc.. For his concern about the COP ( the new judging system ), it’s almost same as my concern which I have been thinking , which I already wrote in one of my Myspace blogs a long time ago. And Johnny also has been telling about the new judging system is killing artistic aspects in figure skating since a long time ago. I think for Johnny who is a true artistic skater , who is also a perfectionist for every detailed movements , feeling with music, ( his mind, body and music altogether ) , besides all the elements, including smooth landing positions, it’s very important issue that the system has become like a mathematical contest, always need to “ think” to calculate the points instead of “ feeling” with music. Other wise it becomes like Lambiel who is also a true artistic skater, but who rarely skated clean both programs. Actu...

Beautiful Sunday morning , US Nationals my thoughts

It was a beautiful day today. I woke up late at 11AM, and had a glass of lemonade with red pepper as usual as my breakfast. Ray already got up and was eating a banana muffin at the dining room. I rarely eat sweets except for only Swiss Chocolate , but sometimes once every two month, I feel wanting to eat sweets. Banana Muffins or Banana cream pie or chocolate chiffon cake or cheese cake or cream puff or coffee taste ice cream. Those are my favorite sweets. But mostly , American sweets are too sweet to me so those may be the least sweets here (IMO), so that I can eat sometimes. Anyway, while watching Ray was eating banana muffin , I was influenced and had one of them with Parisian Soup which was our left over from our last dinner. Parisian soup is one of my favorites, it has leeks ( like Japanese green onions) with potatoes. Very simple taste, but has margarine, salt & black pepper and whip cream. In my mind, besides my work, about US skating Nationals often comes...

Johnny Weir has updated his New Journal !

I knew he has been incredibly busy for ice shows and his GPS competitions since last May so I thought it won’t be updated until new year. And reading his journal, I found some new things I didn’t know how tough his situation was this season, it even looked tougher than I thought. >(Johnny's quotes) After my return from Japan I started noticing a lot of pain in my left foot and ankle. Having just gone into new skating boots two weeks before my departure, I thought something was very wrong.  I didn't really understand anything about my skates at the time because in all my years of skating I've had the good fortune of never having problems.  I have to admit a flaw right now. As long as I've been ice skating, and as long as I've been at an elite level, I understand absolutely nothing about skates or blades.  I just know to put new ones on every season and get them sharpened regularly. Galina Yakovlevna thought it would be smart to go into a new boot, ...

New Calendar for 2009

This year, we bought something different kind of calendar for our living room. I thought it’s kind of cute. Ray also likes it. I enjoy looking at all the hand bags in it. Hand bags ( purses ) and shoes are always my favorite collectibles ( also watches ) , and I used to love to collect many kind of styles of purses. Somehow, since I moved here, it’s enough to have one or two for shopping. But seeing those purses, my collector’s personality has appeared again . Even just looking at many kind of purse, it’s so fun. Last year ( 2008 ) , we were decorating Johnny’s image calendar in our bedroom, and napping kittens image for our living room, and Zen image for my office. Love Johnny's quote in it, " I think star is my symbol. Star doesn't know how it got where it is or where it is going or even what it is. But it keeps on sparkling. That's how I like to live. No matter what, keep on shining . - Johnny Weir " Choosing calendars every year is kind of fun...
