Yesterday ( July 17 ) was my 45 years birthday.
Usually, I’m not so a big fan of doing something special for my birthday, same as other holidays and national holidays.
But suddenly I really felt wanting to eat sushi or chirashi sushi yesterday and Ray found a great Japanese restaurant for me and made a reservation for our dinner.
Before we took action, we are already careful to choose things to avoid to get disappointed later, and we started checking reviews of all Tucson Japanese restaurants.
And we went to one of the best reviewed restaurant “ Sushi on Oracle “ , because it’s the nearest place from our home.
It’s a small Japanese restaurant, but the food was much more delicious than I expected.
Surely it was the most delicious Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been in the U.S.A.
The staff there ( Sushi on Oracle ) were friendly and polite.
We ordered egg roll, agedashi Tofu, as appetizer, and for main dishes, Chirashi sushi for me, and Teriyaki beef for Ray.
Ray drinking lemonade.
For drink, I ordered Kirin beer ( Japanese ), I haven’t drunk a long time, but it was really good ! Beer is fantastic !
Ray was a driver , so he ordered lemonade.
Ray enjoys with miso soup.
We also wanted to order desserts after finished main dish.
But each meal we ordered was pretty big especially appetizers, so we were almost full before we started eating our main dishes.
Besides, miso soup and Japanese green beans ( Edamame ).
Edamame is really fit with beer.
Appetizer agedashi tofu & egg rolls
Many Japanese restaurants in the U.S.A. are actually not owned by Native Japanese people and the taste were often mixture of Chinese or Korean or Vietnamese.
And I was not so impressed with any of the restaurants in the past. And the prices were usually much higher.
Me, eating Chirashi sushi.
But the Chirashi was sooooo delicious !!
The quality of the fish were good, too.
I haven’t eaten Chirashi sushi since I left Japan ( 2002 ) , so I was very happy for it. ( I forgot to take the photos of my Chirashi sushi and Ray's teriyaki beef...)
Also the appetizer egg roll and agedashi tofu !! They were all great taste.
My favorites are Tuna, Salmon, Ikura. Ray can not eat raw cold fish , so he was eating beef teriyaki with white plain rice and salad , and he also really enjoyed it.
He usually prefer Chinese foods to Japanese foods, but he said this is exceptional. Every bite just melt in your mouth.
For my birthday cake, Ray bought a banana cream pie for me a week ago, because we could not wait for it.
Our favorite pie is not always available in a store , so while it was available, we just wanted to get it.
Anyways, everything was perfect and went smoothly in my birthday, and I’m very happy for it.
Thank you to my dear husband.
In the next day, when we measured our weight, I little bit lost my weight, and Ray didn't change even though we ate too much.
