Cherries, Cherries, Cherries

When I was a little girl, cherry was my favorite fruit. I dreamed to eat cherries until I get full. In Japan, cherries were very expensive ( maybe now' too ?) . Every summer season, my mother bought a pack of cherries, but it was small pack,  so when it was shared with my family ( 4 family  members ) , I could get no more than 8.   Now, my childhood dream came true! This large pack of cherries was on a special sale in the supermarket. It's a season for cherries and Peaches !!!   Hmmm I'm in a heaven.

Fruits brunch

I usually get up around 11 am, so my first meal in a day is always brunch.  and lately I'm really into eating Fruits. I rarely had not eaten much fruits since when I was young even though I love fruits,  because I preferred to eat normal meal, and after the meal I was already feeling full and no space for fruits or deserts for my stomach. In tea time ( coffee break time ), I often ate snacks , rather than fruits. So my mother often had told me to eat more fruits.   Lately, I happened to find an article about a Fruitarian who has been eating only fruits for 7 years and 8 months, and has been very healthy so far. I do not think I will be a Fruitarian but I decided to eat fruits since then, and I noticed that eating a lot of Fruits makes my body healthier. I often got the feeling of sleepy when I was eating rice, noodles, potatoes for breakfast or brunch. But I noticed that eating fruits doesn't make me sleepy feeling and get more energy. So since I found it out, I've

Yummy Coffee Jelly

Coffee jelly was one of my favorite desserts when I was in Japan , so I often ordered it whenever I went to a cafe. Many cafes or family restaurants put whip cream on top, but the cafe I was working for when I was a teenager was putting vanilla ice cream on top with coffee cream. I really loved this way. A nd recently , suddenly I was craving for that coffee Jelly. I haven't eaten coffee jelly since I came to the USA,  because there are no such a menu in cafe or restaurants here. But I didn't know it's so easy to make it by myself. My husband has never eaten coffee jelly, only fruit jelly. Maybe in western countries, there is no coffee jelly ? Anyway, we both really enjoyed eating it so wanted to share it. Here is the recipe of the coffee Jelly.       For two people Ingredients *Gelatin - 0.25oz ( about 7g ) *Water -  Three table spoons *Coffee -  250cc *Sugar or honey -  Two table spoons ( but depending on your taste )   How to mak

Today's brunch - Happy time

Japanese breakfast menu One of the happiest moments I feel is eating my favorite foods at home. This is my today's brunch.  The menu is * A bowl of plane white rice with vegetable seasonings over it. * Two sunny-side-ups and a slice of chicken ham , * Green asparagus , * Seaweed called Nori ,  ( Thank you to my aunt Miyoko & Uncle Sakae ) * Miso soup with Daikon ( Japanese radish), Satoimo ( Japanese potato ), green onion, The sauce I use for Nori and the main dish is soy sauce . It's one of the Japanese breakfast menus but I rarely eat breakfast, so I often eat this menu or similar menu for my brunch. This kind of Japanese menu never bores me , and it shows I'm really Japanese.  But I sometimes eat garlic toast with cheese and Tuna, and egg and salad instead of the menu. Also in my husband's days off, we sometimes eat French toast or pancake for brunch. Depending on our mood, sometimes we have different feeling of what to eat, so sometimes I make diffe

Wonderful Japanese Gift from my relatives

So happy !!! My Japanese relatives, aunt Takako and uncle Eimei sent us a gift again , and received it yesterday ! They are my mother's younger brother and his wife and my closest relatives. They have been really nice to me since I was a little girl. I can not say enough to thank them for so many things they did to me and my family in my life. These are Organic Mochi ( rice cakes ) , it's kind of like a sticky rice. A rice cake is made by pounding steamed rice into a cake.  I was telling my husband that I really want to eat Mochi around new year holidays because I haven't eaten Mochi since I moved to the USA,  but Asian super market  here are not selling Mochi. So I was thinking about purchasing it in amazon store.     Also the seaweed called "Nori " , and ground sesame which I eat almost everyday. So, I'm so so happy and grateful to receive their gift ! They don't know about my wish to eat Mochi, so I felt like it's

New favorites - Wine & Chocolate

In the valentines day we discovered that a combination of Bordeaux wine & Godiva Chocolate pecan caramel Sundae Dessert truffles make our feeling extremely happy! It's sooooo delicious ! and the wonderful feeling stays long time. Bordeaux white wine ( French ) has been my top favorite wine so far. It's very unique and rich and very well balanced taste, so I've been enjoying drinking it often. My husband also loves this wine but his favorite wine right now is an Italian wine called Bianco. I didn't have habit to drink wine until last year, and I didn't know but now I really understand why French people and Italian people have a habit to drink wine with meals every day. In their descriptions of each wine , it always shows which wine fits with what kind of meal. They know which wine matches with what food.  When we eat a meal with a wine which matches with it, the taste expands, and we can get even more happy delicious feeling. I know
